Detection of Structural Control on Formation Water Quality, in Hemrin Oilfield, northern Iraq, Using Lineament Analysis and Hydrochemical Data

Formation water analyses of Tertiary reservoir (Euphrates, Jeribe, and Dhiban formations) in Hemrin oilfield reflect high salinity variation between Albufudhul, Nukhaila, Allas domes. The present study suggests that this resulted by two reasons, (1) percolation surface waters (rain water) which lead to devastation oil type, (2) interaction host rocks. Satellite image DEM were used detect the lineaments morphometric analyses, interpret structural control on variation. main direction are NE-SW, prevailing with subsurface vertical faults Albufudhul Nukhaila domes playing SE limb dome as conduits for (rainwater), dilute change formation properties from domes, while fault considered semi impermeable according geometry so closed system comparison increase properties. is classified variety medium (TDS 7430 mg/l), brine, 59118 mixed origin meteoric connate water, pH value (6.75-8.89) weak acidic alkaline. Its type Na-SO4-chloride anions ordered rCl > SO4 HCO3, whereas cations rNa Ca Mg. This associated open reservoir, influenced consider bad zone preservation hydrocarbon accumulations especially north east a good accumulations.
